My paintings depict memories, observations and imaginings. My process of painting is very long as it involves the laying down and scratching away of paint over sometimes several months.
In this time my observations and memories can change, overlap with imaginings and take on new meaning.
The textured surfaces of the paintings also seek to create diverse sensory impact and tangible energy.
I write, draw and observe the world I move through as a means of accessing memory as well as in an attempt to not ignore the strangeness of the world and life. I let this strangeness bleed into my paintings.
